The Guelph Humane Society started in 1893 to provide care and shelter for homeless, stray and abused animals. Some of the programs that they provide include:
- sheltering and adoption of stray or unwanted animals
- helping lost animals return home
- animal/wildlife advice
- dog and cat tagging
- pet visitation
- humane education
- animal by-law enforcement
- animal distress and/or cruelty investigations
- March Break and summer camp children's programs
The Guelph Humane Society are always looking for volunteers for all departments in their organization. Some examples of the volunteer positions available include:
- Avian Enricher
- Small Animal Nurturer and Trainer
- Feline Well Being Assistant
- Cleanliness Cat Crew/Canine Cleanliness Crew
- Companion Animal Chauffeurs
- Canine Enrichment Specialists
- Canine Companion
- Wildlife Rescue Driver
- Event Volunteers

Monday to Friday 9 am - 6 pm
Saturday 9 am - 5 pm
Closed from 9 am -12:30 pm on the last Wednesday of each month for shelter staff training.
Animal Viewing:
Monday to Friday 11 am - 5:30 pm
Saturday 11 am - 4:30 pm
