At Habitat for Humanity WDG it is our goal to deliver the Ultimate Volunteer Experience by offering a worthwhile, meaningful, and rewarding opportunity. We aim to achieve and nurture this culture of volunteerism by:
- offering a curriculum-based approach to advance skills in the areas of construction, merchandising, and entrepreneurship
- focusing on personal development of volunteers – reinforcing soft skills through mentoring and feedback
We offer a variety of volunteer experiences:
- Assisting on build sites
- Delivering meals and snacks for our volunteers working on the build sites
- Working in our ReStores
- Administration support
- The Studio program
Our vision is to attain singular recognition for our ability to realize expanded volunteer expectations in a staff/volunteer partnership model. We are reaching out to schools and social service organizations to identify youth that will benefit and grow under this vision.
“Habitat for Humanity, through their partnership with Conestoga College, offers students opportunities to gain insight into the inner workings of a globally known non-profit organization that , among other things, helps build homes for families in local communities.” – Steven Shadd, Falculty, Conestoga College.
Our core business relies on the power of volunteers. In 2013, we received support from 691 volunteers, donating over 15,000 hours. That is the equivalent to over $225,000 in hourly wages!
