Kitchener and Cambridge have issued temporary fire bans that takes effect at 4 p.m. Friday until further notice.

The two cities join the four townships in Waterloo region in banning fires. It also comes as Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a heat alert for Waterloo region for the weekend and the early part of next week.
