GO Transit is reporting a person has been struck by a train west of Guelph Central GO station.

Metrolinx says the person was hit by a train which left the Kitchener GO station at 7:09 a.m. It was scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 8:47 a.m.

"The area is in the hands of emergency personnel," said a statement from Metrolinx.

"Trains cannot move through the area until the investigation is complete.
