While some diehard astronomy fans are heading south of the border to chase totality on Monday, some members of the University of Guelph’s physics department are planning an event that will give members of the local community a chance to check out the solar eclipse close to home.
“My colleagues and I just wanted to bring the solar eclipse to as many people as we could,” says Andrew Harris, a PhD student who is part of the group of physics department volunteers that make up the observatory team.
Harris and fellow team member Eamonn Corrigan have organized an eclipse-viewing event at the physics department’s observatory on the university campus on Monday afternoon.
